Boris has an MBA from Insead and a BA from Princeton University.
He spent 10 years in the equity business of BZW, the former stock broking and investment banking division of Barclays Bank. Boris started as an equity analyst covering Japanese technology companies in the Tokyo branch at the peak of the Japanese market, then worked as a director in the Asian equity division in Hong Kong before relocating to the Taipei office as a head of research and a top-rated technology analyst before assuming the position of managing director of the Taipei branch. He then returned to Hong Kong as the head of Asian Equity research.
In conjunction with the acquisition of BZW by CSFB, Boris joined DLJ to establish a highly rated pan-Asian tech equity research team for the following 2 years.
In 2001, Boris transitioned to the buy-side and joined the Capital Group in Hong Kong as a technology analyst, initially focusing on emerging market equities and later with global technology responsibilities. While managing a technology portfolio in excess of US$1bn as part of the Emerging Markets Growth Fund, Boris also expanded his coverage into the renewable energy industries. He retired from Capital in 2013 in Singapore where he had been based since 2006.
The keen interest in renewable energy led him to fund a Singapore based solar project developer start-up as an angel investor as well as make several other investments in other start- ups centered on battery technologies.
Boris is now setting up an equity fund to invest in technology and sustainability. He will look to put his 25 years of investment experience to use, build on his more recent insights into the renewable sector and expand his focus to capture investment opportunities in sustainability more broadly. Given his track record at Capital, his initial focus will be on listed equities.
